The AOS® Programmable Flask Package (PFP) is a completely portable, fully automated non-contaminating grab sampler for atmospheric trace gases available anywhere. Twelve borosilicate glass flasks with Teflon seals capture and store up to 2
liters of sample each at programmable pressures and flow rates. Sample taking can be triggered by any combination of time, location, altitude or user input. The system is self contained, quick to install and simple enough to be operated in the field by non-technical personnel. It runs autonomously. The sample package itself is rugged enough to be shipped by commercial carrier between sampling sites and analysis laboratories. Once in the laboratory, the air samples and sampling information can be extracted and analyzed under computer control without the need for operator intervention.
The AOS® Programmable Compressor Package (PCP) (sold separately; batteries included) supplies power and clean, pressurized sample air to the flask package [see the Outline Schematic above]. One compressor package can power two or more flask packages if multiples of twelve samples are needed during one experiment. The compressor package is completely self contained, portable and rugged enough to be shipped alongside the flask package.
Included with the AOS® Programmable Compressor Package are all the accessories necessary to use the sampling system:
-
AOS® Display Unit provides a semi automatic method for sample collection. The display prompts the user with a message indicating the condition to be met before sample collection (A typical message for aircraft sampling would be "Goto 26000 feet"). The user then toggles the display switch to execute a sample collection when the message condition has been met.
-
AOS® Accessories Kit provides the necessary electrical and plumbing connections to operate the PFP and the PCP together as a sampling system.
-
Terminal Emulator (Optional) - provides RS232 communication for field manipulation of PFP settings.
